Anyone had rear spoiler replaced by a body shop?
I would really like to swap out the stock spoiler and install a Caractere spoiler, but I'd like to know what the expense will involve. Has anyone had this done by a body shop? If so, can you share the general cost involved, excluding the spoiler part?
From what I understand, the effort involved is:
1) Remove original spoiler--detaching several bolts and the mounting glue.
2) Fill trunk lid bolt holes, if the replacement spoiler does not cover OEM spoiler mounting area.
3) If step #2 is required, repaint trunk lid.
4) Paint new spoiler.
5) Mount new spoiler.
Of course, if there weren't any OEM bolts the cost would be quite less as no refinishing and painting of the trunk lid would be involved. I'm guessing about $500 to $750, not including the replacement spoiler part. Is that about right?
