Default Well, the alternative tires I've bought have been spread wide...

The BFGoodrich KDW2's stuck like you wouldn't believe and they lasted a decent amount of time, but they got loud FAST and they'd be relatively expensive ($175/ea in 225/40R18).

The Kuhmo MX's were cheap ($94/ea), but didn't stick anything like the KDW's and I don't think they lasted very long.

At 108-128/ea depending on size, I'd be satisfied with saving $300 over the cost of the KDW's while having to endure a shorter lifespan.

They'll be going on a GTI, which is FWD, so I will need all the sticky I can get. In all honesty, I trust the opinion of the TTers here way more than I do the kids on the 'tex who would probably criticize me for going wider and not stretching the tires.

Yep, they're on the blue car. Ride nice, fairly quiet, tons of grip. Seem decent in the rain too

Default Been using 'em for the past 3 years

I was sure that tire wear would be a big problem, but it isn't. I'm surprised that this much grip (including in the wet) lasts this long.

Default 235/40R18

225/40R18 is stock on my 18x8" wheels. 235 should be alright.

Default I'm looking at those as well. Wonder how the Road Hazard Program works for a closeout tire.

Someone before also mentioned the load index was too low for the TT, I need to look that up, but note that you are putting them on a GTI.

Oh and if you notice Gary from TR posted in the wheel and tire forum. I guess the first lot sold for $88 ea in that size!
