Default Nice site. Questions...

I found it doing a Google search.
I'm curious about the exhaust recordings. I'm trying to decide between the FM res vs. non-res exhausts.

Is the resonated version really that "whooshy" as compared to the non-resonated?

This is how I perceive the recordings...
Stock: well, stock. Kinda whooshy.
FM res: whooshy, with a tad extra "bass" over stock.
FM non-res: very loud and boomy.
UUC: loud and raw. Raspy.

Is the FM non-res so loud that it will ALWAYS attract (sometimes unwanted- especially in an 'uptown' area or around police) attention?

Were the recordings done in nominally equal conditions?

Thanks!
Stephen

Default The recordings were all done in my garage in the same spot, but...

...I didn't do anything to normalize the recordings beyond that. I think your assessment is basically correct although I would not classify the non-res version as being so loud that it attracts much attention. It's definitely louder than the resonated version but not much. What it provides is a continuation of the deep throaty sound of the resonated version right up through the rev range. The resonated version ends up sounding much more like stock in upper rev range.

Default Will do. So far, I've

installed the OEM phone mount. It was a pain to do it without removing the passenger seat, but I didn't want to futz around with side airbag igniter suppression, etc.

You'll need a Sears/Craftsman right-angle bit driver. Also, (carefully) take the yellow plastic 'nuts' out of the hump and run the self-tapping screws in and out a couple of times to make threads. This will greatly assist the installation process. Also, put a couple of envelopes or papers over the seat rails to keep from dropping the screws down in there.

The phone kit is kinda cool in that it has an antenna repeater circuit under the 8260's antenna area. This can screw into the TT antenna. Be aware that the antenna is only an 800MHz antenna and that the 8260 wants 800 and 1900.

I've also wired up the DB25 'loopback' as illustrated by Jeff Bipes.

I'm still trying to get the pinouts from the vendor, who's contacting the manufacturer in Taiwan. If I don't hear from her this weekend, I may take the holder apart again and just trace the wires...
