Default Is anyone running ECS Tuning Stage 1 set up?

The price seems high for a set of rotors unless you think of them as being semi-reusable (hub)and that the rotors are really the only weak link on the stock TT brakes.

Default Yep, front and rear :-)

There's no tangible improvement in stopping power from these rotors. They do dissipate heat with greater efficiency than the OEM's, so you get equivalent braking, with better fade resistance. It's still quite possible to overheat them though, proven chasing a TT'er equipped with Stoptech's and ECS stg 1 rears.
There's a substantial reduction to unsprung weight from the front pair, I didn't weigh the rears, but Steve did, and found them approx 2 lbs heavier than the stock pieces.
"the only weak link...etc" is arguable for sure! They are an incremental improvement over original, and I have no regrets. I like the aggregate reduction in unsprung weight realized by the combination of the rotors and my Fikse's. My baseline was the 21.5lb fat fives and I'm now 10lbs lighter at each front corner and equivalent (to stock) in the rear, with 9's and 255's. It's possible to fit Boxter Monobloc calipers to the front while retaining the ECS rotors, so that's an option for further weight reduction.
And they match, front and back, so the aesthetic is balanced... this is rare, for example Alcon sells a matched set, their front BBK kit has a rear option with a matching rotor... these look fabulous and are probably the best money can buy.... but they start at $3600, so you "pay to play"!!

Stasis Alcon

Default Thanks, nice write-up. I like the stock calipers too but the ECS rotors look like a good..>>

Compromise. I didn't know they made them for the rear, do you need new carriers for those too?

Default you bet! the rear kit comes with a drilled steel plate and fasteners

that relocate the caliper to align it with the 2 piece rotor. It's a bolt up, but it takes awhile for rerouting of the parking brake cable and the hydraulics, plus removal of the dust shield. The early (rear) rotors weren't drilled for the countersunk retaining screw, they may be now. Both sets installed in my shop were drilled and countersunk on the bench prior to installation. This pic was borrowed from JohnLZ7W's Fotki to illustrate.

what's the deal on the 'retaining screw' - what's being retained there?

Default You don't need the retaining screw, it's just there to help with alignment...

of the rotor and the hub. If it isn't present, just make sure that the rotor is aligned to allow for the wheel bolts to easily screw in.

To help align and hold the rotor temporarily in place, I just screw in a bolt. Your rims will hold the rotor in place.

Default Quite well. I've been slowly modding...up to about 315rwhp right now :)

Not quite done. I'll be doing suspension mods this summer, then upping the boost. Hoping to progress up to 400rwhp, but need to do more supporting mods.
