Anyone See Automobile Mag article: Coolest Cars for $30K?

In the November issue of Automobile Magazine, the cover story is "Coolest Cars for $30k" and it features the TT, BMW 3-series, Honda S2000, a pickup truck (!) and a convertible that I can't quite make out. It doesn't appear to be available in CA yet. Has anyone read it? Any insights there?

Automob ile Magazine Text

Yes I did Charles, and on the inside..........

Is a nice picture of all five cars together. Four of them lined up side by side. And one proudly
displayed out front. I bet we can all guess which one it is.
By the way Charles, I'm guessing you are not from the U.S., for it is painfully obvious that car you weren't able to identify is a Mustang. Painful because if I go twenty years without seeing another one it will be to soon. Not that I don't have respect for the classics, but I think it's time we move in a new direction. A sort of TT direction if you will. Greg

This Mustang isn't all bad...

It's the Cobra version, which gets a jet-fighter class powerplant and independent rear suspension (60's technology that finally made it to the top level Mustang just this year!). Of the Audi range, It'll smoke all but MAYBE the S4 in any but the twistiest of roads, and it's cheap (relatively speaking) compared to the European offerings.

I'll grant that the regular Mustangs are hanging on by a thread of sentiment in the Modern World though...

Believe it or not, I am from the US...

...I just couldn't make out the car from the GIF. I have to admit that it didn't even occur to me that the car could be a Mustang ($30k?); perhaps if I had been more open-minded, I would have been able to deduce that fact. Oh well...

Clarification

Greg,
After responding to you the first time, I reread my post and realized the ambiguity in my message. I meant to say that the MAGAZINE doesn't appear to be available in CA yet. So my only look at the cover was based on the gif attached to my original post. Sorry...

Do you mean the 320 hp Cobra SVT that the press got to drive, or ....

one of the alleged 320 hp cobras sold to the public that only generates 270 hp due to "excess aluminum in the intake manifold left over from the casting process" and restrictive mufflers which create too much backpressure (blamed on an outside supplier, but obvioulsy the factory's fault). Now that's a great quality car. I'll think I'll stick to German engineering, thank you.

Ah, a critic! (more)

Yes, that would be the press version, with the engine that works. And we think WE have troubles with a rash of transmission glitches! Ford is selling high-pro versions of its signature muscle car with "accidentally de-tuned" engines, and THEY APPEAR TO HAVE KNOWN ABOUT IT!

Did anybody see where the guy who outed them on the internet (blueoval.com, or something like that) faced the full litigious might of Ford Motor Company, and accordingly has earned injunctions against him and his web site? Makes you wonder just how far we can push Audi with this transmisison talk on Audi-tt.org...
