...(don't ya love those words!) the likely differences in the responses of societies in northern Europe and in the American southwest to climate changes projected to occur in the next five decades.

1. Find out what those projected changes are.
2. Assess climate dependence of the two societies now.
3. Estimate changes.
4. See if there's an argument to be made that either or both will benefit.

I was thinking of going with how population size and growth affects the world and how population control through education etc can help.

still a pretty broad subject though
