AofA technical visit and "break in" oil ? resolved (sort of)
The NorCal Audi Club (Steve Sherwood) organized a really interesting site visit to the AofA technical training center in Pleasanton this morning. Beautifully equipped and a VERY knowledgeable and experienced Instructor.
Among other things I asked him about the old "break in" oil question.
Audi DO USE a specially formulated 0w30 break in oil. But get this...the car as delivered to the US can contain EITHER synthetic or dinosaur based...only Canada because of the more-extreme operating environment gets synthetic specified.
