Default APR or FORGE front mount? For 180 fwd?

I have heard they are both great, but figured I would ask the group.. I was told with the FORGE I have to cut around the bumper and the APR was direct fit.. any pros/cons other than the cutting to either one of these? Any info greatly appreciated.

Default the APR is less effort; doesn't require a manifold swap >

but I like the forge, and the effort isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Default The guy thats putting it on said he was going to charge me

300.00 either way (meaning apr or forge) so figured since forge is local I would go with them, plus im getting a great deal! I just didnt want to tear the car up too much...

Other than the manifold swap, and pros/cons? I heard guys saying they had problems with the Forge - saying they had the temp's all over the place, and with the APR it was steady and less hoses etc..

Default wrong, on the problems - never had any at all - great setup, but >

your mechanic's way off if he say's he'll do both for the same price - swapping the mainfold is at least another one to two hours and by the way, I'd get the evoheatshield phenolic gasket if the manifold's coming off (extra $100 or so, but no additional labor), helps optimize the FMIC effort.

Default The mechanic is a buddy of mine..

He just laid out a flat price to do them, I also have to have the turbo replaced while im there (sigh.)

And I just noticed you had a K04 on yours! (cries.) LOL I want to put one on mine but can't find any nor what kind to put on the car as a direct replacment.

So this evo heatshild thing... way better than the gasket that comes with the forge one?

Default I have the APR. Easy bolt up with no mani exchange...>>

Uses the top down approch. I removed the alians because of my setup. But I hear you don't need to.

Also, it's a little cheaper than the forge and I think for the 180, it's a better design.

Default I'm making the tCarbon 180 Kit available at the end of the week...

Here are a few pictures... it keeps the OEM intake manifold, uses the cross-tube (used in the 225 SMIC set-up), and includes DV relocation:

PS- Did you check Vortex for the K04? I saw one available just a few days ago.

Default Yes, way better on the gasket; I got my turbo at Kinetic Motorsport >

It's a K04-01, great upgrade for a fwd given the weight difference from quattros. I got it separately, then had APR upgrade my existing programming for it - and there might be a charge, like $200 (that's 'sort of' per their site - and I kept asking the local dealer who did it to pay them something, but they kept saying no, no charge, so I took it and thanked them very much). The turbo will set you back in the range of 800, irc.

http://www.kineticmotorsport.com/products/BorgWarner_K04_001-36-85.html</a

Default Interesting piece >

the nipple looks short for the dv relo, but I'm curious nevertheless - I want to integrate an SFS dv relo hose with my forge 180 fmic. Currently running the forge dvrelo kit, but want to swap to the sfs or a forge 225 dv relo just to clean things up a bit; I have a standard 225 MAP pipe I thought I'd use to pull it off, but might be able to make what I see work a bit better if you'd consider selling me just that part. If email's ok, let me shoot you one tonight when I have access to all my pics and facts.
