Default Article: "Audi takes loyalty programs to new heights" (okay, I want driving school and a trip)

Five years ago, it was not unusual to hear Cadillac or Lincoln dealers
boast about pampering their customers by sending them flowers or
butter cookies after a purchase. Sometimes they'd even drop off the
car at the buyer's workplace as a special courtesy or wash it
following service.

But at least one upscale automaker is raising the ante when it comes
to lavishing time and treats on its customers.

German automaker Audi of America has embarked on an ambitious
owner-loyalty program that includes trips to Europe for longtime
customers and special events for first-time buyers.

This year, Audi invited 25 buyers and their guests on all-
expenses-paid trips to Germany and Italy, where they attended World
Cup Ski Races. Most of those selected had purchased at least three
Audis. One Minnesota man had bought 15 Audis in the past 10 years. The
automaker threw elaborate dinners with entertainment and even
distributed spending money to trip attendees.

Back in the U.S., first-time buyers were treated to a special driving
school in June at Pikes Peak International Raceway in Colorado. Using
their own vehicles, they received instruction in handling from
professional driving instructors.

Later, they were invited to fly fish on a private stretch of the
Tarryall River, try target practice using Old West firearms and attend
a food preparation seminar organized by Gourmet magazine.

Audi says the trips and events are designed to capitalize on the
emotional involvement that buyers have in their new purchase.

I'd be thrilled with driving school. And I'll be a first-time buyer, too!
