Audi TT starts, runs.... then dies
Hi all,
My car is a 2000 Audi 1.8T TT:
I was traveling home from work and my car stalled while driving 30mph on a flat open road. The car would start fine, run fine and then die about 2-5 seconds later, even if I gave it gas. I got it towed home and replaced the fuel filter.
Then I noticed that the wire going to the n75 wastegate bypass regulator had broken off, so I spliced that. Also noticed a broken vacuum line and fixed that. I still have the same problem.
I ran through the automated test on VAG-COM and no fault codes. I was leaning toward the fuel pump so I ran the 01 engine output tests and I can hear the fuel pump going (though it makes a loud gurgalling type noise).
Anymore ideas, I'm not sure what caused such a drastic failure and not throw any fault codes (except for the open circuit for the N75 valve). I also put a half gallon of gas in the tank to cover the running out of gas theory (fuel gauge does not work, instrument cluster sucks in tts)

Sounds very similar to a problem I was having with my sister's 01 GTI. I checked everything over and over. I scanned the car, no fault codes. the only way I could get the car to run was to unplug the MAF and remove the vaccum hose on the throttle body. (I removed the hose on the throttle body because I felt that the car was choking out even with the MAF unplugged). long story short... It turned out to be a bad MAF even thought no indicator or codes in Vagcom. I borrowed the MAF from my TT and put it in her GTI and I started up and ran like nothing was ever wrong. ordered her a new MAF for her 1.8T AWD and problem solved.
