Default Pfft. I'm with quaTTrochick...

People already complain about the TT being a "poser" sports car--an automatic will just aid that argument.

Actually, I don't really care if they offer it as an option, but I just think it's not needed. When the whole product line gets the TT styling treatment, people can just get an A4 with auto.

To me, they should concentrate on pushing the TT the other way--adding more power, and making it more performance-oriented (as in the TTS) rather than wasting valuable energy making it automatic.<p><a href="http://registry.audiworld.com/audi/registry/details.asp?car=4626"><img src="http://homepage.mac.com/galaxian/.Pictures/mmttsig1.jpg" alt="Click here for my registry entry." border=0></a>

Default Yep. I agree

I got the A4 with a stick because I wanted to add that to my experience. All my previous cars have been auto, and as an additional benefit of driving stick I can now "qualify" to drive my brother's M roadster and F355.

I wouldn't worry about any discrediting (even if it wasn't tongue-in-cheek). Its not like we don't get a question on this like what, once a week? =)

Default Uh huh...

As to what others think, F&@% them. They want to think a TT with an auto is a poseur car then they should remove the stick up their a$$es before it carbonizes.

I don't think it would take all that much energy to drop in an auto. Its not like they don't have the tips to handle the torque (considering the S4 transmission).

Don't get me wrong. I'm not some "it needs an automatic!" freak. I'd just rather see the option, and not have people beatdown just for bringing up the subject.

Default Re: My opinions on Tiptronic... (Kinda long)

Besides my TT I own a A4 with Tiptronic. I figured it would
be fun to have the option to shift myself when I wanted.
However I hardly use the Tiptronic except when driving
in the mountains in the winter.

The main reason I don't shift myself that much is that
it still feels like an automatic shift. I just have a better
control over the shift points. However I can control the
shiftpoints pretty well with the accelerator while in "automatic
mode" so there is no need to switch to manual.

In the future if I want a car with a manual I wouldn't get
a Tiptronic. If I wante a car with automatic I don't really
need the "manual" option of the Tiptronic.

Default Stay calm...

I don't think anybody was "beating down" shaholin for bringing up the question. I know I wasn't, because it's a perfectly legitimate thing to ask. I'm just stating my opinion which is what I think we all do around here.

Like I said, I don't really care if they offer it as an option, but to me, it's MORE important that they push the boundaries of it's "sports car-ness" rather than going the other way (which I personally think adding an auto does.)<p><a href="http://registry.audiworld.com/audi/registry/details.asp?car=4626"><img src="http://homepage.mac.com/galaxian/.Pictures/mmttsig1.jpg" alt="Click here for my registry entry." border=0></a>

no, you certainly weren't, but quaTTrochick was...and its not the first time I've seen it (though I don't remember if it was her or not).<p><a href="http://registry.audiworld.com/audi/registry/details.asp?car=5099">A4 1.8TQMS Ebony/Onyx</a>
