Well, I'm back from 2 1/2 weeks in Norway in one piece! Aud and I had a great time visiting her family for xmas. We stayed with her brother at his new house on the fjord... here are some pics taken between 9:30 and 10:30 AM on a couple mornings... had to really enjoy the sunrise, because it was the most direct sunlight we saw all day! Once the sun is up, it traverses the horizon, but is behind the mountains, so the sunrises and sunsets are preceeded and followed by a very long eerie twilight. Daylight is just shy of six hours this time of year.

We started our first day there by hopping in a trailer for a ride into the woods on the traditional xmas tree hunt. These vikings are a bit nuts when it comes to xmas tree hunting... -7*C (20F) and we're crusing up the hill in a open trailer, followed by some hiking around in the woods to get trees for the whole family. Cold, but a blast. It was a perfect winter wonderland, and when the sun came out the scene was just spectacular.

I had to prove that I'm not a "City Boy" by demonstrating my axe handling skills to the family...

Check out my new sweater-- a gift from Aud's Mom. Hand knit just for me as a surprise for xmas. In her family, there are only two ways you get a sweater from Mom... you are born into the clan, of marry into it. I qualify for neither, so I think they want to keep me around. :-)

Now for the TT content-- one of our fellow forum members, Lasse, lives in Bergen where we flew in and out. So, not one to miss a TT gathering, Lasse and I decided to have "TT Norway 2001 and 2002" during my visit. We had four attendees, with Lasse and his girlfried Catherine, myself, and Aud. There was one TT present. :-) Is this the first inTTernational gathering of fourmers?
First there was lunch the day after we got there... this was the "2001" gathering:

Lasse and Catherine were very kind and invited us over for dinner the night before we left also (the "2002" gathering!) We had a fantastic dinner prepared by Lasse, including a variety of beverages... well, it was a TT event, after all!
(By the way, Lasse keeps a saltwater fish tank as a hobby, like many of us here... what are the odds!)
