mine happens when there is moisture in the air or cold. It used to be annoying but now I have learnt to live with it. But if anyone knows how to fix it, I would be obliged.

this has been a signal of a cluster on the way out
if you are still covered get your dealer to make a note of it in case your cluster goes out. Mine has done this once in the 3 years I've had it but my cluster is still OK.

few ideas....
1.) check the battery cables- mine was doing it, found out the battery cables were not on TIGHT- they were on, and touching, but just enough to sometimes lose power
2.) I also had power failures due to some door bolt thing, not really sure what the deal was with that- I can call the dealership and they can tell me if you really want to know
3.) Obviously the cluster is a weak link, too bad it is not a cheap weak link ;-)

I'm under warranty and will check the following. I also dogged a 325i yesterday and then placed the
car in the garage for the night. Maybe it is the cables. This kid was relentless in his 325i but he could not keep up when tic-tac and straightway.
I have to give her a rub down and garage her for two days.
