Ben, DuTTch, RoberTT... How did you get the Samco in place?

I'm installing the Samco right now. Removed the old inlet hose without much problem. But the increased "girth" at the bottom bend of this pic is preventing me from getting it past this small metal pipe that's in the way. I'll take a pic of this metal pipe and will post in a minute...

Pretty easy...>>
Everything is done from the top. After you remove the old TIP, place the clamp on the Samco. You will have to bend the oil line a little towards the left fender so you can get the Samco in. Installing the hose is done by feel. Once the hose is on, use a socket to tighten the hose. Reinstall everything else and your done.

Here's a picture with me standing next to the driver side wheel

Bar's black and in focus close to middle of picture. Samco needs to go down to the turbo above this v-shaped bar. Pretty solid bar.

Easy? Easy!? I've tried twice and have yet to get it on!
it's a mf'er. i was doing some regular maintenance this last weekend and found that the little bolt that holds the old one on was loose. I didn't have time to attempt the samco again, but I did take off the strut brace bar and found that I could hug the engine. this is not a new trick, but for some reason, i felt i didn't need to use it. I'm a dumbass. use it. I think the install would have been much easier, because with the brace removed, it was pretty easy to get two hands down there, one on either side.
good luck dood.

Ok, just bend the black tubing towards the drivers side a little...>>
It's pretty soft and will bend. Just don't bend too much. You should then be able to slip the samco inside the tube.

just wait til you have to put on the vacuum line..>>
patience.... i got up and took a break (went to get a beer) several times during my install..
remember, the samco hose can be bent/tugged, just dont mess up any connections above the motor
good luck

Robert, it's a metal piece. You don't have that on your ATC?
Gotta believe our ATCs are built the same, but I can't believe none of you guys had the same trouble as me. Also makes me understand why the stock one had to be squished!
I ended up forcing it down. I had to use a tube (my jack's lever bar) to push straight down on the inside of the L of the Samco (ie. between the Samco and the turbo) while pushing the outside of the L of the Samco (sort of collapsing it) to nudge it inside of the black metal bar.
After a long struggle, I think I've got the opening of the Samco and K03 lined up, although it's hard to tell whether it's deeply secured onto the turbo. Using engine hug technique, I can reach the clamp with my left hand. No idea how where to slip my right hand to get to that area though. Any tips??
Unfortunately, I might have positioned the clamp the wrong way. The screw is on the cabin side pointing verticly up. Less space to fit tools in there to tighten the clamp. I think a better position would be on the top with the screw pointing back towards the cabin.
Too dark to work on now, so I'll have to leave it for tomorrow. And the back of the knees are so sore now after bending forward for so long... PITA!!!
