Default Since you asked...here is my search and why...

during autoXing I found that I was constantly banging into the rev limiter..eyes on course and not staring at instruments...with the MTM chip (and I assume with other chips) the TT revs so quickly in the 1-2-3 gears that I was shifting out way too late and thus beyond power curve of engine. Solution is a 'shift light' but problem was a discreet and design compatible (to interior) light. Kept looking and today out of the blue found it. Thanks Dan MachV...

Here is the light installed and in its off mode (meaning as you would see it until you hit the preprogrammed rpm)

And here it is when the engine hits 6000 rpm...you can program the light to come on at any rpm and I chose 6000 assuming that my shift reaction time would be such that I would shift out prior to 6500 rpm...if this proves not to be the case then I can program back to 5900 or 5800 or whatever. When unit activates it sends a bright (this is also can be set to different intensity levels) red light flash and you shift...no looking at tach and eyes 'on the track/road'.

I find this device very cool and is not hard to install...

Default I purchased from MachV ....and this unit is made by Pivot and is called 'Auto Shift Lamp'....

I have been looking for some time for that 'compatible' shift light design...lots of shift lights out there but most are the size of a street stop light. This unit is neat and it works...cost is about $100 and is not difficult to install...now that I have done it I can post a few instructional pics...tool needed are the torx head driver, needle nose plyers and a few other minor items. I could now install this system in about 1 hour...took me 2 hours based on a learning curve. Whole install in located on the drivers side dash side access panel (open your drivers door and look at end of dash and you will see the area you would be working with)
I can tell you this simple little device makes driving the TT (particularly mod ECU) more effective...no more over revs (eg hit rev limiter) and you stay in a predetermined power band rpm more effectively...TOTALLY unnecessary device for all you Paul Tracey/M Shumacher/Andretti types..you are so good you would never need one of these things...oh yea...take a look in any race car and quess what you will see at eye level...blink blink little red light...

MachV

Default Good idea for you 180 owners...neat system and works well...if there is one minor shortcoming it is.

the HUD portion is somewhat hard to read in bright sunlight. Beyond that works well..Dan has it installed on his MachV A4 mobile.
