Blaupunkt San Jose
Has anyone replaced their original head unit (2001 TTQC stock (non-premium) receiver/cassette, no CD changer) with the Blaupunkt San Jose head unit or a similar Bluapunkt head unit?
I have done some searching here and to be honest I am even more confused than before. LarryTT seemed to have some info on this, but his site seems to be dead now. Crutchfield lists this unit as an "EZ" fit (with their wire adaptor), but I have heard (and seen here) some reports that the stock speakers will not match and will cause some frying. Does anyone know the facts?
Also, I have found a much better price for the San Jose than what Crutchfield offers. I'd like to get the Crutchfield wire adaptor though - I doubt that Crutchfield will sell just their (free) wire adaptor. Does anyone know if the wire adaptor is a must? I called Scosche (spelling?) thinking that they were the ones that made the wire adaptor for Crutchfield, but they said they have no info/products for the TT (my thinking was that I could buy the wire adaptor from Scosche and the San Jose from the cheaper-than-Crutchfield store). Does anyone know who makes the Crutchfield wire adaptor?
Appreciate any info/insight into this, thanks,
Scott
