Bogey, or anyone else, a question about the 15/32" brake line to the brake booster . . .
 

Since I have had so many problems with my car NOT being able to stop I just went out and checked this line. You are talking about the 1/2" line coming off the right side of the intake manifold, right? It snakes under the air intake and thten across the brake fluid reservoir and under to the brake booster? This is the hose, right?

It looks like about 8 different pieces with so many places for a leak to occur. What would a dealer replace this hose with? I don't see any cracks at the intake manifold, and I can't see what is going on at the brake booster. I removed the plastic cover and still can't see too well down there. If I just get 15/32" hose, which kind should I get? Should I get one or two zero clamps? Bogey, you mentioned you are only using one, how come?

I hope this is the reason for my lack of braking. I will test it out when I change the hose and let you know.

Larry, let your dealer replace the vacuum line. Audi knows about the problem and
 

your dealer (like my dealer) most likely will have a spare in stock. After replacing the line incl. check valve my TT brakes noticable better:)The replacement looks different too. Larry... where it comes off the intake its rubber. Look at where it fits onto and off of...
 

the inline checkvalve. You'll be able to see the checkvalves barbed nipples profile through the shiney black plastic tubing (kind of an undulated surface). Keep following it up, then to left and then down to brake booster (all directional info as you stand at engine compartment with hood open). Use a flashlight to see down into brake booster area. Failed or failing hose will be apparent by "crazing" of plastic material around or slightly off all barbed nipples (checkvalve being the easiest to see). It'll be parallel fracturing to the tube which will look like thin white lines or parallel spider-web-like-lines that are off-white to light gray in color as the material is spread/fatigued. You can also feel the cracks by running a fingernail across them. In most cases you will see them easily on rear side of the checkvalve in daylight.

Ask specifically for "brake booster line" in said dimension @ local parts....
 

house. Don't bother with Audi replacement line...one look and I told dealer not! 2.5' is good with 2'3" perfect. you will cut the line in half and @ the point where you want your check valve. One clamp @ I manifold only as both sides of check valve and connector @ brake booster are barbed. Once on, very difficult to pull off...so its doing fine although I will put Aero clamps on @ these three points for long term.

As ExTTreme indicated, just follow line from right side of I manifold. OEM = short rubber line, 2 shinney plastic lines, 1 check valve, and 1 speed clamp @ I manifold.<p><img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/AudiWorldPics/2000/cbsigx.jpg" borders="0">
