Default Boost Machine

Is the boost machine effective without modshack stage 1 and 2? Also, does it do much if you are chipped? I'd imagine you might run a little lean with it if you are NOT chipped. Any feedback from current owners? Thanks!

Default I guess you read all this...................

I think it can be done but the chip and other stages will definately make more of an improvement and give you more boost to work with the boost machine.

http://www.modshack.info</a

Default Yeah...I read the website but I'd rather hear what people

who are using it have to say. I mean just swapping in my N75J got me from boosting 10-12 PSI up to 15-17 PSI, so I figure this could get me to the low 20's maybe. Now let's say I am chipped, probably boosting what, 20-21 PSI with just a chip? Will this get me and extra couple PSI?

Also, when do TT225's hit limp? I know my Jetta did at 14 PSI, but now I'm hitting 17 on stock software without a problem.

Thanks guys.

Default Not completely sure, but stock max is usually 13-14psi and I think.................

limp comes in about 23-24, maybe one of the experts will chime in. I am supprised the N75 made that great of a change. Are you a 225?

Default Limp moments...>>

On stock cars usually occur in the vicinity of 18-20 psi. On chipped cars this can be raised to 27-29 PSI. It is impossible to be more specific because of all the sensor inputs (MAF, Temp, MAP, IAT, etc.) that determine the max the engine will handle before going into protective mode. FWIW, the J valve is not a great solution and if you do go with a BM, plan on going back to stock. Performance is not all about boost and 22-23 seems to be the point of diminishing returns. Higher and a lot of heat is generated and timing is pulled back

Default Pre-chip, a big benefit of the BM is raising the boost. Another benefit, though, is to smooth out

the power delivery throughout the rev range, and get higher boost in lower RPM ranges. These two benefits remain even when chipped. In other words, once chipped, you won't eke out even more, but you will still get functionality from the BM.

Yeah 225, I was shocked too. In my GLI all it did was give me 1 PSI and a crapload of surging.

Default Oh I definitely dont' plan on just increasing my boost. A chip

will come soon also, as well as other mods. Although there was a huge difference between pre J valve and post J valve. I jsut wish we had the tuning capabilities on our cars that some other cars do...with software like Hondata and Ecutek you can do so much with timing, fuel maps and everything so you can mess with your booost but do it right.

Default FWIW...>>

My A/F's are nicely in line and I've never experienced any detonation. I have a lot of cooling mods on my car though..
