Brake Meltdwon Update
In an earlier post (see link provided), I wrote about a total right rear pad/rotor meltdown that I experienced last weekend.
It's nice to be able to report that everything is fixed. Along with my 45k service, I have brand new rotors, brake lines, and pads. VERY good news and all under warranty!
Unfortunatly, while I originally had the pads off to try and fix the issue myself, I did not take pictures, and I didn't take the camera to the dealer when I picked ut up either. :-(
Word to the wise... check your rear pads or make sure that the dealer does it during a regular service visit. Mine were worn to within 1/8 of an inch on both the left and the right. My inner pad on the right side however, was TOTALLY gone. No word from the tech as to why one would wear faster than the others, but suffice it to say, you do not want to pay for this if you are outta warranty.
The entire bill would have been over $900 - too much for a wear and tear item that isn't properly monitored (as was the case on my car).
Cheers!<ul><li><a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/tt/msgs/673675.phtml">Meltdown lowdown...</a></li></ul>

Yes - 43.5k on the car...
dealer commented that usual wear would be 2 sets of fronts for every set of rears replace. FWIW, I do tend to brake hard, and I do have Stop-tech's.
He also mentioned that the pads had "probably" never been looked at by his technicians. I have no idea if it's part of the regular service checklist, but it it's not, it sure should be.

Reassuring that your Stoptechs didn't cause any warranty hassles....
and I agree with your concerns about rear brake pads being on the service checklist. Makes me wonder about mine (Mintex all round, 15K on them).
