Default British deportation bungles.....read this and laugh at our expense ;-)

This is in today's paper : hundreds of evil foreign criminals are on the loose in Britain afer a string of astonsihing deportation bungles. They are feared to include THREE murderers, TWO killers convicted of manslaughter, NINE rapists, FIVE paedophiles, 99 conmen and 204 involved in drug crimes.

SIXTEEN people smugglers, 34 sex offenders, 93 robbers, 41 burglars and 111 sent down for violent acts may also be roaming freely.

The chilling list emerged yesterday as Charles Clarke was forced to admit they had been "lost" by a shambolic prison release system.

The Home Secretary - whose job came under immediate pressure - revealed 1023 foreign criminals who should have faced deportation after serving jail terms simply stayed here without challenge.

What a fantastic country I live in.....NOT

If any of you are thinking of coming over, think again peeps. The law's definitely an *** over here....LOL

Default um,

you realize that the supermajority of the carnage in NO after katrina was hearsay.

It was the TV media equivalent of the telephone game.

Anybody who travelled there to help knows the residents are too lazy to cause all that damage

Default I don't think they made stories up, per se.... but definitely succumbed to the chaos...

... and made many statements of fact that were either hastily corroborated or not at all. I feel, and I believe that a lot of people agree, that the U.S. mainstream media is having an identity crisis, trying to at once be entertainment and the press. The practical effect of this is a hysterical, 24-hour "news" machine that is driven by hype, prone to hyperbole, and practices fear mongering. Plus, I think that there is far more sloppiness in the mainstream media, with LOTS of hasty conclusions, loose understanding of the full scope of certain issues, and poorly researched stories. Plus, the bias issue is so pervasive (and not just political bias).

I hate it all, but the fear mongering is the worst.

It hasn't quite been the free press for some time, but now it is as though the media is trying to become the police and the prosecutor.

(This doesn't include Mark, of course! :P)
