Default broken window cable *uggggggggggh*-- please help >>

Take one step foward and ten steps back. The window is stuck rolled all the way down. The cable to the window regulator snapped clean off.

Anyone know exactly what I can do here to DIY? Anyway to get out of buying the whole innards if I just need the cabling/pulley system?

Crap, that stinks. Cruel and unusual punishment for sure. I've got nothing but good vibes 4U.

Default looks just like the shifter connection >

open it up and remove the ferrule end. best suggestion is maybe you can just pick up the cable. If not, pop open the other door card and pull that one, go have one made up. Places to get it done include shipfitters, guardrail/handrail shops, or specialty fabricators fo things like awinings and the like. Might call an auto repair shop and see if they give you a lead. Also might look online for 'cable suppliers'.

Default you think i'm safe just buying a new regulator and installing myself? >>

get anything custom done around boston as far as machining/car stuff -- people look at you cross-eyed.

like when i brought my control arms to multiple autoshops in the area to press out the bearings.

needless to say -- i wound up sending them to mcp.

Default Probably. I'm going to a shop tomorrow to pick up some plate >

a fabricator that we use for custom work, some of which are cable handrails infill. I'll ask them what the options are if you'd like.

Default I just changed my regulator/motor on mine last weekend...

Everything went alright..hardest part was getting the new rivets in with my harbor freight rivet gun...i had to use all my might..

also, i have wind noise now, but i know where it's at and it'll just take a few iterations of adjustments to the door subframe.

Default oh..and maybe as a temporary fix...

to keep your window up while you order new parts..

take the interior door skin off, have one person manually push up the window closed, and on the two rails where the window slides against, maybe clamp something tight to prevent the window from coming back down...

or drill a hole on the rail (since you'll replace the regulator) and throw something in the hole, like a cotter pin, to prevent the window from moving...

just a thought..
