Buying a 2000 or 2001 TT
Im looking at 2 TT's a 2000 185hp 5spd Fwd TT with 60k miles, no body damage, xenon, tape deck, a lil road rash on the front left rim, has carmax maxcare warrenty on it for another year or 20k miles. It did have some slight tapping/ticking when it was idle. (warrenty could fix), drove nicely, no noises while driving. silver on grey leather. for 11,200
or 2001 225 6spd quattro TT with 75k miles, 1 slight slight door ding on the rear quarter. heated seats, xenon, cd changer, Blue on blue leather, drove nicely. no noises. clutch feels sound $13,500 timing belts for both have not been changed yet. |
I bought a 180 and wish it was 225.
|
Get the 225 and do the timing belt right away.. >
I have a 2002 TT 225 with 75k miles and I just had the timing belt done a few thousand miles ago...
You will def want the xenon, cd changer and heated seats if you live somewhere cold! I love them.. And blue is a nice color on the TT! Goodluck |
2nd...wish I had the 225. Don't mess around on the TB...GET IT DONE!
|
"blue on blue leather" ------------
Three mentions of cars identical to mine in past 2 days. Dealer said "really rare" back in 2004 when I bought it. Starting to feel rather commonplace :-). I'd get the 225 and chip it. (after I did the tb and wp ) I wouldn't sell mine for 13500 .
|
warranty?
is the 2000 with warranty really a bad deal. although it did haev some engine sound, tapping it sounded like. tap tap tap tap tap tap ..
and it also had some water stain on the rear floorboard. above the spare tire. whats that about? |
I'd stay away from that one.
|
so the 2001 at 13,500 225Q is better than the 2000 at 11,200 185F with warrenty?
|
yeah, i got that too. :P
|
I'd buy the Modshackmobile, no question!!!!
|
It would be for me. I'd take the 225.
|
I got my 2000 180 about 4 years ago and am wishing I would have gotten a 225
That being said, my car also came with the CPO warranty and had easily paid itself off by the time my car was off of it.
Expect that without a warranty, you will probably have to pay for a new instrument cluster in the next 1-2 years judging by the age of your car, and the new cluster/install alone will set you back about $1000. The CPO warranty covered the cost of a turbo replacement after my oil pump failed and starved the turbo. The cost of that, had it not been covered by warranty, would have been upwards of $8000. |
Re: I got my 2000 180 about 4 years ago and am wishing I would have gotten a 225
so i should get the 2000 180 with warrenty for 2 grand less than the 2001 225Q with no warrenty
|
I would go for the 225, sounds like its worth the extra $$...
as long as you don't mind the blue interior, thats something that I could never ever own but of course thats very subjective.
and of course get the TB done, I did mine the same day I purchased my car... in the guys garage that I bought the car from =) |
if you can find an AW member selling a car...
go for that. most people on here take good care of their car...
other than that, go for a 225, the extra money is worth it. |
"dont mind the blue interior" ?? i love it!
|
me too.
|
wish it was black NT
|
any idea...
what you think mine could go for these days?
i think i prob lost a lot of value as shes been sitting in a garage for the last year... |
I think imgetting the 225
i'll try to finalize the 01 225q.
any noises in particular should i look out for. it didnt have any tapping. how cold i tell if there was any vacuum leak? Need to get the TB taken care of. Whats the best way to tell if it needs to be done. is there a way to check |
that usually helps in the mileage category though!
|
only have about 28k
|
I got the blue on blue 225 6spd w000
I brought it home yesterday morning. good bday present to myself. now i need to clean the interior. and get some all weather mats
