Default Calling all Chip owners....

I'm getting a 2002 Quattro Coupe and have been reading stuff on this forum that says you have to get the codes from the dealer to swap out the ECU. Can anyone tell me what the deal is with that?

When I had a A4 1.8T and dropped in a spare ECU with a APR chip in it, I didn't have to get codes or anything like that.

Anything to clarify would greatly be appreciated.

Default the ecu has to be matched to your instrument cluster when you have the immobilizer -

ecu can be cloned

or friendly dealer can program spare ecu
