Default Camera mount update...

The holes for the headrest are hard to drill. One hole is the front piece and the other hole is on the back piece. Shouldn't really matter much. I will dremel them out smooth tomorrow. The expandable foam didn't work either. Will post pics on Sunday at the install party.

Default I'm probably going to try to do something like that once I get a new job.

I was thinking about running video and power cables up to the front grille, and then putting in some sort of mount for a lipstick style camera. I'd like everything but the cables and mount to be easily removable, so there will just be coax connectors in the car for whatever recorder I'll use, and then connectors near the the mount for the camera to plug into.

I think a setup like this should provide some pretty cool shots at a pretty low cost. I'm not sure what I would use for a mic though...Probably a very small mic under the hood in an area that can be shielded from the wind if such a place exists.

I could do that! With the hole in my car.

Default Yeah, the sides of the tube make it hard to drill straight down.

That was what I was trying to convey, but probably did a poor job.

I ended up cutting out the holes by sawing/drilling the needed pieces off.

You're right though, the location of those holes won't matter much provided that the 2 aluminum tube will squeeze the headt rest bars.

Why didn't the expandable foam work?

Default I had an old can but it wouldn't go far enough into the middle of the tube.

it just stuck to the walls and expanded out the end. I think if you bolt the pieces together and use a high speed drill press (which my brother in-law has) you might be able to get those holes drilled right. At lunch I will play with the dremel but I have another piece of aluminum left over which I will use the drill press on this afternoon. Doug

Yeah, a drill press with a good vice will surly work.
