Default Cartalk: DV relocation to TB........Discuss!.....>>>

<center><img src="http://images2.fotki.com/v19/photos/7/7305/201596/DSCF0033-vi.jpg"></center><p>Guestimated benefits:

1) DV runs cooler (less maintenance)
2) Cooler air recirculated on blow-off
3) Slightly better boost recovery
4) Easy to change!
5) Pressure released at point of TB restriction on Throttle close
6) I haven't tried this yet

Everything I've read suggests moving the DV closer to the TB is a good thing. This is easy and cheap to do. I've run a baseline through the gears VAG on RPM's and boost. We'll see. Feel free to discuss!

Default Have you taken into account the effects of transient, standing pressure waves induced in the system

due to the..bla bla bla bla... Looks like a great idea. What are the possible downsides?

I wonder how 2 DV's would perform. One in the stock location and one next to the TB. I would guess that the turbo would see less back pressure on "throttle let off", hence, less turbo lag. What do you think?

Default My thinking...(could be wrong)....>>

If you relieve pressure post IC, The turbo, while still being relieved and stall prevented, keeps more of the system pressurized and flowing for slightly faster recovery. I have a pretty quick response set-up now. Improvements may only be fractional, but I hope measurable.
