Default Cell phone replacement

I bought my 2000 coupe while in Germany 2 years ago, I was offered all of the extras except the cell phone, I have the pre-wiring but since Germany runs a purely digital cell phone network I was not even offered the phone. Now that I'm back in the States I'm tring to find out what phones are compatible with the pre-existing wiring. I've talked to my dealer, AoA, and Motorola and none of them are either willing or able to help me, can someone tell me what phone I can use? Thanks a ton

Default Re: Cell phone replacement

If you have a German TT, you may want to try to contact Audi in Germany and see what they have to say. I assume it's pre-wired for GSM phones (that's the standard in Europe). You may also want to search the archives for phone installs, since some people here have wired their own digital phones into US spec TTs.

Here is the address for Audi in Germany, I don't know if they have someone there who speaks English, let me know if I can help with that:

Audi AG
Kundenbetreuung Deutschland
Postfach 10 04 57
85004 Ingolstadt

Phone:
01149 - 800 - AUDI SERVICE
(01149 - 800 - 28 347 378 423)

Default A goal almost destined to fail from the outset, unfortunately...

your best bet is to get a Nokia 8260 or other Nokia that is compatible with the custom box Ed Palosic did (S4 or A4 forumer). He sells them for $250 and they integrate beeyotifully. DIgital phone, most carriers use the NOkias. Look in the search here or google. He has a website set up. NOt sure the exact URL.

Default FWIW .. I was told that the antenna is neither analog or digital.. just uses certain frequencies for

some reason Verizon will work with the TT stock antenna. Verizon also offers the Motorola V60.. which is the phone being offered with 2003 models w/ onstar on Audi's & MB. I believe you'll be able to get the V60 integrated without too much trouble. There's a tech article on phone inegration ..in the tech section... or go to a larger metropolitan Verizon vendor & ask them.
