Default changing the top hat on a strut

2005 TT 1.8L FWD This is the WV front end partsthing . Well that did NOT go well, seems that there was NO lower nut, part number 14 according to AudiUsaparts.com diagram, under the hat and the coil expanded while the bottom was still mounted. The new question is WHAT NOW? Thanks for answers HELP!

I was hoping someone had a rescue procedure to not totally remove the whole strut. A spring compressor will not fit on both sides in the wheel well, because the spring is now at full length

I just did my front strut mounts today, and made a how to video showing how to do it without removing the strut from the car.

Thanks for the video, at minute 1:31, I did something similar for the top nut, ONLY there was no lower nut and the spring decompressed with the bottom still attached.
