Class action lawsuit against Audi

Class action lawsuit against Audi
There is traction for a class action lawsuit against Audi to compensate Audi TT owners who spend thousands of dollars on engine repairs when the timing belt fails on low mileage cars. My 2001 TT failed at 47,000 miles while my maintenance manual recommends changing the timing belt at 120,000 miles.

why
If your mechanic thinks Audi will bail you out, why do you need to go for a law suit, and a class action one at that. You want maybe for Audi to just stop selling in the US?
As for everyone else here, get the darned belt changed early - 60k miles if you're the cautious type, 75k if you like a little risk with your petrol.

Re: why
I realize you all are enthusiasts and we love our cars. I was out of the loop for awhile because having twins. I know if i had kept up with this site and others i would have changed the belt sooner.
I feel that when i go to a trusted mechanic (that i have used for years) who is up to date on the books and tells me don't worry about the timing belt change yet, change it at a specific mileage, I have to believe him. My belt broke before 80,000mi.
Audi stated in the class action suit for the A4s that they would check the timing belt at 40,000mi and 80,000mi. Good luck getting an appointment at my dealership. The dealship here has gone through many techs and has changed ownership. If we did not have this forum many of you would have had similiar issue.
I feel some of you had the same fate but are not to willing to give up this info. I would like compensation from Audi.

Re: Class action lawsuit against Audi
I contacted my dealer about this. They are now reccomending replacement at 65K miles, ['01 TTQ225] and promised that if it went out before that and caused damage, they would pick it up under my Audi CPO warranty...
[but talk is cheap, hate to have it come to that], I will have it done at 50K to avoid hassle.
I hate lawsuits. I figger you lost as soon as you gotta talk to a lawyer.

Re: why
I am not interested in stopping Audi from selling cars in the U.S. I tried to get them to cover the repairs, but they refused to help me and since I feel it is their responsibility to repair the car, and they don't, someone will have to decide who is right and who is wrong in this case.
To be honest, I can do this via a small claims court, but since this seems to be a widespread problem, I thought maybe we can do it once so all TT owners can benefit from it, and not have to go through the same headache that we are going through now.
