Default It sounds like your paint has been etched by some caustic agent, it is hard to say without looking

but you may not be able to buff the problem away.

Default Do you live in a place where they lime the roads?

No, seriously. When we were on vacation in New Zealand, we passed a construction site with a sign saying something to the effect of "LIME SPRAYING, WASH YOUR CAR TODAY". I couldn't believe it! I think I would have turned around if I was in my TT. That poor little Misu Lancer...

Sorry I have no advice about your paint, if clay and compound don't help, there's probably nothing you can do. Is it very noticeable when you're standing a couple feet away?
