Default Cluster Repair - From the S4 Guys - LCD Fix - They did it!

I meant to post this when I saw it, but totally forgot; the cluster posts below jogged my memory.

Anyways the link is below - there has to be similarities between them both that this will be helpful

Complete Cluster Repair

Default I looked at doing this at one time also, but did not have the solder-fix stuff.

Default I don't either, nor is my cluster shot... yet... *knocks on wood*>

Just figured it looked like a very good write up and could be very helpful to someone that has dead lines and wants a DIY fix

I found a cheaper fix... use the little button on the right hand stalk to turn it off.

Sort of like "keep filling the leaking tire with more air"?

Default I wish it would default to off. Only the warnings need to work.

Just turn on the additional info when I need it.
My cluster works fine but no sense wearing it out.

Sadly, my problem is wonky temp and fuel gauges; my LCD is fine (knock on wood)

Default check the A6 C5 forum....

There is a place in Canada that will do this repair. 175+shipping. They only do the LCD.

The gauges can still be done by BBA(sp?) in Mass.

OR.. new cluster from genuinevwparts for about 600.

That new cluster has to be installed by the dealer.
