Default Clutch malfunction revi$ited...

Just heard from the SvsMgr. Says it's the slave cyl and throwout release bearing. Says my clutch is shot and flywheel is too. Says the slave cyl and bearing is covered under warranty, and that he recommends I do the clutch and flywheel on my dime, which he'd only charge me 2hrs labor and parts for a total of $1600.

Am I getting hosed, or does this sound reasonable? (He mentioned that if the clutch were being done under normal circumstances, I'd be looking at $2900).

$2,900 for a clutch? Insanity. You are being hosed.

Default how many miles?

If reasonably low, tell them the faulty slave cylinder and throwout bearing caused the other two to fail and they need to cover them.

Default should be bout 1000 tops for both clutch and flywheel, and labor should be 1 hr

if the transmission is already out i can swap the clutch/flywheel in 15 minutes....

72,000+ easy miles. Not abused, no high-rev clutch dumps...well maybe a few ;-)

Default $1600 sounds like a deal. I was quoted $4000 by my dealer for the whole job...

I would say, go with that estimate and have it done. He's giving you a deal on the labor.

I've never heard of a TT clutch being done for $1000 TOPS. Ever!!! And I drive a 2000 TTQC.
