Colorado people: Would anyone here be willing to do a run up Pike's Peak in early October?
I'll be out there from October 3 - 12, and at some point, I plan to make a run up Pike's Peak (yes, it will be in the TT.) A friend of mine will also be out there with his modded S4 and will be joining me. We'll probably make the run sometime during the week of the 7th - 11th. As most of you probably know, the road is not paved all the way to the summit, but I have done the trip before with no damage...And the view from the top is SO worth it.
If nobody is down for this trip, I'd still like to get together sometime while I'm there for a drive or at least dinner. I'll be staying in Vail for most of the time that I'll be there, but I'm definitely willing to drive out to Denver or Boulder for a gettogether since we'll be driving all over the place anyways. Let me know if anyone is interested.

Last year, I made the trip on October 8...No snow at all.
I took that train that day, but the road was perfectly fine for driving. I drove up the road back in July 2001...The lack of pavement made it that much more fun.

Too many rocks and way too much dirt.

I'd love to do Mt Evans, but everything I've read about it says the road is closed by Sept 30th.
I'll be doing all the scenice drives I can while I'm there...Peak to Peak, Berthoud Pass, Trail Ridge Rd, to name a few. If people aren't willing to do Pike's Peak, I'm open to other suggestions.
One of my favorite drives is to take US6 out of Golden to Idaho Springs, hop on I-70 or whatever it is for a few miles to the road that goes through Berthoud Pass. Take thout out to Trail Ridge Rd and through Rocky Mountain National Park to Estes Park and back to Boulder.
However, I would like to do something new that I haven't done before. If Mt. Evans actually is open, it's at the top of my list of things to do.
