Default Coolant leak: Anybody ever seen one here?

2001 TT225, been getting antifreeze whiffs for the past month or so. Recently there have been a few drops of coolant on the shop floor. The leak is somewhere on the drivers side of the engine. I tore out the airbox today trying to hunt it down. This picture is after I hosed it off some. There was crusty coolant all over the place before and I couldn't see anything. I'm suspecting the plastic pipe where it connects to the rubber hose. However I wiggled it while the engine was running and did not observe any leakage.

I can't find a loaner pressure tester with an adapter that fits the coolant tank to put steady pressure on it, so I'm probably going to have give it a hard drive and quickly take the airbox off again and see if I can spot the source.

If need be, how hard is it to swap the plastic pipe (for someone mechanically inclined)? Looks like a bitch to get at.

Not quite sure what I'm looking at there, but I just replaced the coolant flange on my 2001 225 QC about a month ago and it was pretty easy. I bought the replacement part from GermanAutoPart.com and it hasn't leaked since. It leaked for a while before that because the crack was so small I couldn't see it; I just kept topping it off with fluid until one day it started pouring out. I would replace this part right away, even if it's not broken. Remember to get a new o-ring for the temp sensor before you do, though!

No sir. T-stat and flange were replaced 20K ago along with timing belt job. This leak/photo is further toward the driver side as opposed to the front of the engine. The camera is in the position where the airbox lives.

The coolant flange is on the driver's side of the motor, above the transmission. The coolant temperature sensor goes into it. You need to remove the airbox to replace it. It's this part right here:

If you thought the flange was the part that went over the t-stat, we're talking about two totally different parts.
