Default Cop's radar question..

This is in Canada.

I was driving on the 2 lane road. I was doing some high speed trying to pass the trucks in front before the lane closed to 1.

As the corner came, a cop's car in a Camaro passed me on the opposite road. I have radar detector Bell 980 (Ka, K, x band). It did not warn me at all!

I checked my rear mirror and started braking, and the cop's car camaro started braking as well (I knew he was gonna make a U-Turn).

He did and pulled me over. Guess what he said "You were doing 139km/h, almost 50km/over the speed limit" So I asked him if i could see the radar, and he showed me - and it did say that. I got a very pricy fine.

I didn't argue with him because I was speeding, but what I am suspicious about is;

HOW DO I KNOW THAT IT WAS MY CAR'S SPEED? it could have been someone else's and he never reset it and said it was mine (because my radar never went off).

in future, how can I check the radar speed with the time?

thanks if anyone knows the answer to this.

Default Possible answer. Ka instant-on for a very short time at low power might not...

give you more than a beep. If you were concentrating on your driving, you may not have noticed.

Around here (NY) the Ka's in the Camaros barely register on a V1.

My $.02

Default Re: Cop's radar question..

You're pretty much screwed. You can't really check and even if he didn't have it on his display, if you dispute it in court the judge will take the officer's "ability to judge speed visually" as acceptable evidence against you. I disputed a ticket where the cop had nothing on his radar and still lost. This is the case in Vancouver anyway.

Default You bet! Last one was caused by HUTA however.

I wasn't paying attention and had the tunes up loud.

"Head up the ..." syndrome.
