Default Could bad coilpacks cause my overboosting problem?

Autometrics called me today and informed me that I had a bad coilpack on one of my cylinders. Any chance this is contributing to my overboosting?

Default even sporadic...it would misfire on WOT. if totally bad...misfire all the time and would

be difficult to drive. would not cause overboost issues like a MAF would.

Default I would think just misfiring....................

Why not try a boost machine and limit your boost levels that way.

Default How much boost was your car running??....Just got my APR 3+.....

kit done and my boost is hitting 30psi in 1st and 2nd gear. 3rd hits approx 29psi and tappers to 24psi. Seems high but me mechanic did numerous logs and everything seems to perfect.

Default You might wanna check with APR on that...

they claim it should peak at 25 and settle in at about 20 or so. My AWE gauge is graduated up to 25, but my needle sweeps upward towards what would be 30. Any thing above about 26 caused my car to stumble, which I guess is due to coils.

Default I'll contact greg @ apr to verify. I am not experiencing any sort of stumbling whatsoever...

I pulls really hard and smooth.... it zings to red-line almost faster than I can react to shift the thing! But the fact is, it is pushing more psi than they state the kit should produce. Hmmm...

Default Sporadic Misfiring...

on higher mileage cars might be the coilpack wiring. 3 TT's have ALL had the same problem now (mine and 2 other locals). Wiring harness plastic becomes very brittle and connections start to get slightly corroded. Worth a check.
