Default A couple of possibly related issues...

So for the past couple of months or so, I've been experiencing reduced power and fuel economy. I've also noticed that under "heavy boost" (I don't have a boost gauge) that when I let off the gas, there is often times a fluttering noise heard out of my VTDA instead of the usual "woosh". I thought it was the 710N DV, but I just replaced it with a Forge 007 and it remains. What could the fluttering sound be now?

For some gas mileage numbers, on a 3 1/2 hour drive on the highway, I was only averaging 21-23mpg. I used to get over 30 hwy easily. My overall average mpg is around 23.4mpg - it used to be around 28.2 (the cluster display has proven rather accurate for me).

I recently replaced my MAF, have 79800 miles, and am Unitronic Stage 1 chipped.

My PCV system does need to be serviced, and my O2 sensors (at least the precat) probably needs to be replaced as well. Are there any numbers to check output of the O2 sensors like there are with a MAF?

Default Tires may need air

I had the same problem - but on a BMW. That 10% Ethanol took away a good 5 mpg -- and my tires needed air. I used a cheap gas booster from Wal-Mart - put air in my tires - and got back most of my mpg that I was use to.

Default no way to really tell if an o2 sensor is going bad till they do>>>

with a hard error...scangauge shows voltage and you can probably do the same thing via VAG, but there is no real concrete (yes, replace them)

Based on your mileage you are right about the life expectancy +/- 20k on the o2 sensors....

Replace the front one first...or just do both...think of them as a maintenance item IMO..

I would also recheck my plug gaps to make sure you are setup right...

On the PCV....when the weather warms, i would just do it...

Default I just had them rotated and filled back up with Nitrogen...

I'm assuming they're okay, but that's something I can check. Thanks!

Default Thanks! Would the linked O2 sensor work? Also, what could the fluttering sound I'm hearing be?

I saw this posted on here a while ago and someone mention it worked great once a little plastic tab is cut off the connector.

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000BZJ9WE/ref=nosim/</a
