Couple of TT questions!
Hey folks, its dean here.
I am thinking of buying a 2005 Audi TT 3.2 Quattro S-line, its got 115+K miles. It's got a transmission problem. It's apparently slipping.
Before i even want to test drive the car, i want to know.
How expensive is it to put a new transmission in? you'r own town or city prices would be fine. give's me a better picture.
If i were to have to get a new transmission for it, i am thinking might as well make it better. rebuild the trany and put better parts in it. upgrade it.
Also can i distributed power from the front wheels to rear. so it is 50/50 instead of the front wheels having 95% of the power until the rear start slipping.
i've been doing my digging on this forum for hours... i don't see many common issues among the car. or am i just looking at the wrong things? if you could fill me in on something you would fix on the car let me know or upgrade.
Dean.

JUST STAY AWAY! I bought an 02 A4 3.0 Quattro with a solenoid CEL and after putting in $1000 to chase the issue it still wasn't keeping the code off. I would have need a new toque converter and transmission as I could see all the metal gear shards when changing the trans fluid. I forced the dealer to buy it back and pay for the repairs, time, and gas i encountered.Take your time to find one with no transmission issues unless it was an issue under warranty that was repaired by Audi.
Also consider what you would do with the car. I was fully disappointed with the power of the V6 in the A4 as my TT180 on a 1.5 chip KILLS it!

Remember that the 3.2 in the TT is the narrow angle VR6, not the 90 degree V6 in the A4. You have 30 hp less and you're lugging about 500 or 600 less pounds around. No 3.2s were available when my son was looking, but understand it is notably faster than the 225 hp 1.8 which is a mid 6 to 60 car. What does the 1.5 chip do to the 180 hp engine?
Oh, and I agree with passing on the one you found. If the tranny is bad, no telling what else the previous owner abused.

The Malone 1.5 tune has been pushing 250 hp 350 tq with intake and FMIC. I haven't put the down pipe of larger exhaust on yet. I was honestly surprised by the night and day difference and put 2.0T with tunes a good run and still pull on them.
