Default CV Boot and/or Axle Replacement Quotes

One shop I frequently use recommended just the boot replacement given I probably only put a few hundred miles since the tear. $225 labor, have the parts already.

Another shop recommended by a friend tells me they would recommend doing the whole new axle. They couldn't quote me an axle price, but said $220 labor for an axle and $304 labor for just a boot.

Raxles quoted me $399 for an axle and I'm finding them for about $360 elsewhere on the net. Anyone have any other good sources?

Boot is available free of charge from Greg225

Thoughts?

Default the raxles quote is high>>>

make sure you request an OEM setup and not a heavy duty version. Just paid 224$ for the right front on Ole'Red....Core charge was 100$ so make sure you get that credit...

it was 1.5hrs of labor at my local Porsche tuner....Milpower just did both in 4hrs....

Default I had raxles quote mine in July this year...

"The axles for your TT Quatro (nut style) are $349.95 per side."

You core charge statement confuses me, as Marty stated:

"We charge no core charge "up front" and we include a UPS ARS pre-paid return label with your order. All Raxlesâ„¢ axles feature the famous Raxlesâ„¢ Lifetime Warranty."

When my car gets back on the road, it will be getting some raxles...

Default not sure what to say then>>>

as my is nut style as well.....the core charge showed up on the receipt and had NOT been applied yet.

He did say that the upgraded "Heavy Duty" version was more, but i do not recall 349$....it was more like 299$....

Maybe i caught him on a good day....

Default What the heck? I asked him if these were reman'd axles and he said no, he only

recommends the heavy duty new built axles for German cars. He didn't even offer to provide a quote on a reman'd one. And besides, he quoted me $399, that's at least $50 over what they've quoted in the past apparently.

I don't get it...

Default me neither.....i can scan the reciept and email you if you need proof>>>

but it went in seamlessly....and has been flawless...so it was not incorrect....

When i spoke to him, we specifically discussed heavy duty vs OEM quality...and as i made it clear, there was no big turbo on the horizon, we both agreed the heavy duty was unnecessary...

Sorry if i have caused confusion.....just seems a bit weird...

Default I don't know about raxles but my local import parts house

Sold me a RH axle for $100 a year ago or so. New, not rebuilt, no core. Fwiw.

Don't know if they'd ship or not, but I've had great luck with them and highly recommend. Sgparts.com

Default Oh, no confusion caused on your part, I just can't figure out why he wouldn't provide me the reman'd

quote. I do have the early 2001 model, which is yours?

Hmm...my parents live in southeastern Michigan. They could always ship. Thanks for the option.

Default Go with NGP's recommendation and just do the boot.

Just got your email....To bad they changed the axle and boots from 01 to 02 model's and my boot kit will not work. At least that is the cheapest part of the repair.
