Cylinder 3 misfire! WTF?
2001 Audi TT Quattro:
Had a cylinder 3 misfire, replaced coil packs and plugs as well as the mass airflow sensor. What the hell could it be next? I finally folded and took it to a mechanic....I pray that it is only something electrical, like the wires that plug into the coil packs. If it happns to be a mechanical problem, about how much should I expect to get raped for? Any suggestions or personal experience on this type of problem would be great!

injector? or the actual cp connection directly at that cylinder >
unless the wiring harness is literally falling apart and the wires are arcing to the valve cover, I'm kind of of the opinion that the relatively light cracking of the insulation - **although MUCH has been made of it, and I myself have a spare part-harness for replacement someday** is in fact a bit over-blown in the panic concern dept. It might be though that you are getting a short on the wires feeding that cylinder, so have a look and see if there's anything obvious. My guess, if you do the harness plus labor, like $300+

Re: Single misfire or multiple misfires? >>>
Gapped to .032, single misfire, happens occasionally and I only put premium octane in it. Also, if it is indeed the fuel injectors is this something that I can do my self with any relative ease?

IMO.....>>>
It is possible you have a slight crack/broken wire on that coilpack receiver....a good inspection of that wire may help out..if it is cracked, you may want to cover with electrical tape as a short term solution...
Lastly...what plugs did you put in?
Do you go to the same gas station all the time??? You may want to run some Shell 93 thru it for a bit and see if keeps re-occurring...
Fuel injectors do not usually cause a misfire unless they are way below flow spec. The injectors used in the 1.8T are pretty sturdy.....i would focus on electrical for the moment...

Re: IMO.....>>>
I put NGK PRF6Q plugs in it. I also usuall run Shell premium...I got some Monkeys workin on it that specalize in Audi/VW/Porsche, and its a hell of a lot cheaper than the dealership...can't afford them when your still in school!
