Dahlback manifold users..... impressions please?!

Thinking of going that road shortly or EH-ing the stock intake manifold. Curious as to user impressions as I've seen a few people with boost issues that have these installed. Is the ooomp worth the extra cash? I currently run Steve's Stage 3 ModShack Inuction Tuning System (TTDA, Bamm, BM) and am GIAC chipped.

Search for hottubs post on it. His dyno testing showed it to be hardly worth it. He even lost torque

with it installed.

Did you all of a sudden......>

Hit the lottery? Nobody yet has proven much of a benefit...

I think the EH is the way to go cost vs. performance

RedRoadster 03-01-2005 05:02 AM

Go EH...or better yet, with all the induction and boost-related mods you have done>>

I'd start opening up the exhaust tract if I were you.

If you do go with an extrude honed intake manifold, the best thing you can do would be to try to get another 5 or so people here to go in on a group buy with you, you can knock 30% off of retail. If you want to do that, contact me for details.

John - are you still 'waiting' to EH? I'm in the market for >

an FMIC, and may be interested in EH'ing the 225 mani before I install.

Are there any benefits to getting an extrude honed intake manifold? ->>

Or is it a waste of money?

I have both, can't notice difference in performance between them. :-/

Nope, both my EH manifolds are on>>

Hey Will, didn't recognize the new sig and SN!

I ended up getting my stock 180 manny EH'd. I decided that a FMIC or the dual SMIC setup from a 225 was not in my immediate future, so I upgraded the stock manny.

But if you are doing that, and you need the manifold I still have a nicely-EH'd 225 unit. My brother out in CA has it actually - he was cleaning up the ports for me. I wll get him to finally send it back if you would like to go that route. E-mail me about it if you want.

John

A flow-bench test showed an average cfm improvement

at each port of about 14%, I think. I have an Excel chart that MoBlueTT did. I believe the VAG-COM users also showed improved flow. Subjectively, I felt like it gained some power, which was most noticeable over 6K rpm.
