Dealer Prep: Does it make sense to pay for?
Hi,
My wife is getting a new TT and the dealer has already asked her if she wants sound proofing, rust protection, leather care and paint protection. The only item she is thinking about is the paint protection. We have never had the leather protection and the leather looks good with minimal care.
I've had the paint protection before but I'm not sure if there is any real value to it. We try to keep our cars clean even though we live in Nebraksa.
Any thoughts - opinions.

Just a bunch of 90%+ margin items which add to dealer profits.
Paint protection = polymer "wax." Get some Zaino and do a better job yourself, instead.
Rust protection = already done at factory, dealer application may actually void factory rust warranty.
Get some Lexol leather cleaner and treatment.

Nonsense stuff...as msauve said just fluff to add to their margin>>
just flatly say upfront NO because generally sale people will hand you off to a special handler who sole role is to sell you this crap..."of course the entire package is normally $700 but just for you and if you get right now I will sell at $395,,,whew I'm really cutting this close blah blah blah...."

Read this book - Saved me thousands $$ ....
Exposes all the dealers tricks and gimmicks -if you have time before you purchase, it will be well worth it.<ul><li><a href="http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0141001496/qid=1046531308/sr=2-1/104-2611477-8571135?v=glance&s=books">Don't Get Taken Every Time</a></li></ul>

Not worth it...Cars these days are well rust-proofed from the factory, if you really think..
you need a quieter car..instead of making the TT quieter, you may be better off with another car. Also both rust and sound proofing add weight. Finally just put a good coat or more of wax on the car - Zainos is my preference, get lexol for the leather and you will have all the protection you need...some people like a clear bra on the front as well. - Good luck!
