Dealer Shenanigans on used MK1 TT; Really?

Thank you for letting me vent, for my story is probably a standard one for a buyer trying to purchase a remote car.

Having sought out a good used MK1 TT for a few weeks, why yes a true car buying grizzled veteran I am, I came across a low mileage TT in a major city not near me. Looking at the provided Carfax it showed a 1 owner, gulp, holy stick shift, unicorn of a car; with having had the major services at the local, to the 1 owner dude's Audi dealership none the less! Hmmmm

Upon conferring with my finance committee, the Mrs, she agreed and I reached out to the dealership. "Yes we have the car.", "Yes you can put a hold on it", "Yes we will work with your inspection company to get the car inspected...", yada, yada, TT.

All is good, for they didn't require a deposit, which did give me pause, but checking CarGuru's for the car showed that it has been `available` for over 200 days. What could go wrong....(Kitchy phrase, sorry)

Well, Inspection company sets up a time to meet at the dealership on the following day. But upon arriving at said time and, he is told "Car is being detailed". Four hours later, he calls back and the car is still being detailed.

Nice. I call my contact at the dealership who says that he is not at the dealership today and has no idea, and I quote, "Why the car isn't there". Not "Why the car isn't available..", but there. He doesn't call me back or text.

Slow selling car, in for detailing; obvious for weak minded fools ruse. I surmise either it is being sold to another happy go lucky local party or engine issues are so palatable that it would not pass inspection.

Thank you for letting me put my textual thoughts on you visual screen's shoulder....I just needed to vent. Now its on to my happy place....

I have a great specimen with 30k miles I have owned since new. If your other deal falls through.

Thanks GTT, your car is beautiful and definitely well maintained. We ended up buying a local 2011 MK2 TT with 58K miles.

The one I was looking at had an issue where there was slippage in the shift from first to second which suggested a drum replacement in the automatic transmission and we subsequently passed.
