Dealer strongly pushing Nitrogen in customers tires
I was at the dealer for a minor repair (broken rear spring, and broken pass side window motor)
The service advisor was doing a HARD sell to a customer in front of me on filling her tires with nitrogen. Apparently she needed tires very soon.
The dealer must have got a machine and wants to pay it off immediately or something! I did not catch the price they were charging (it was not free). Telling her she will get better mileage, better tire life, everything short of curing cancer!
I agree nitrogen is better, but he was waaaay pushing the truth!
As she walked out, I told her - Costco uses nitrogen - for free - and their tire prices can't be beat!
I have heard stories from people being (stronly) sold on nitrogren for $5-10/tire. Just never saw it being done. Very strong sales pitch. Almost as strong as the pitches to give them perfect ratings on the customer satisfaction survey!

I am using nitrogen in my TT and one of my MGs but got it for free from Costco..refuse to pay for it
I was just blown away from the strong sales pitch he was giving.. was unreal.
I did not get the pitch though, he must have seen the green valvestem caps on my wheels

It's the water vapor that makes a difference, I think.
But I don't get it. It matters most on a track. But with the temp swings I see, I'm still going to be adjusting my pressures, even if not as much.

Of course on a track you should use a CO2/Freon blend for better heat transfer from the tires to the
rims. Then you can be cool like Ferrari. But yeah, any gas mixure should be fine if you pull the moisture out of it. I wouldn't use pure oxygen, but only because of the fire hazard.
