Default Did the dogbone upgrade last night...

Following Steve's lead, I called and ordered the 70 durometer set. Crawled under the car last night and changed them (compressing them to get the bolt back in required some creativity), using only the two large pieces. I already had a lot of vibration in my shifter in 2nd and 4th gears, and a notchy 1-2 shift. I was hoping this would help....
As soon as I started backing out of the garage and up the driveway, I knew this wasn't so good. I get a lot of harsh vibration in reverse and 1st starting out. All is torqued correctly, but I get a shuddering type of vibration when starting off, unless I greatly increase my rpm when starting.
I can feel less engine movement when accelerating, and notice only slightly more platform vibration when rolling, and the shifts do seem better. But the vibration on starting off is bad enough to make the rear hatch cover and something else in the car rattle.
I'll try if for a few days and see if the mounts "settles in" and it gets better. I drive 35 miles each way to work on I-66, so have to do a lot of start and stopping. These might come out and the stock bushings go back in.

As with most things, "your results may vary..."

Default Hmmmm.......the vibration...>>

You felt before the change would be something that probably needs to be checked out. Sounds like something else is out of whack there. Clutch shudder is not normal and Maybe a shift cable adjustment is in order as the symptoms point to that as well. The six speed trans rarely if ever has these issues. Mine shifts as smooth as butter and I had no vibration prior to the dogbone install, and still have none. Give it a week and see if it settles in. If not, pull them out and have your dealer look at the car.

Default There is a TSB on vibration. Don't know if it will help.

Talks about vibration on deceleration, which doesn't appear to be your problem, but you might want to check it out. They replace the dual mass flywheel.

steve, it's not a clutch shudder-- more like the engine/trans shaking on clutch takeup and transmitting the vibration through the subframe. When I took it in for the 10K, I tried to get the dealer to look at the shift cable adjustment, as it will absolutely 'buzz' your hand on the shifter in 2nd and 4th at most rpms. All I got was a "they all do that because the shifter is bolted to the floor" response from the oil-changer tech. I haven't driven another 225Q, so I can't compare, but I don't think it's right.
If you're up on email, shoot me a line so we can "converse". THanks

Default Did you replace the bolts? They are single use bolts as are almost ALL bolts

related to the subframe and engine and tranny mounts. Not saying it's the problem - but something you should do.
