2001 Tt roadster, 54K miles is difficult to engage only 1st gear when fully warmed up, otherwise either when cold & all other gears always fine...... Ideas/solutions?

Adjust shift linkage per the service manual procedure. If that makes no difference, you likely have a shif fork that is about to break completely. Replace the OEM brass one with a steel one. ECS Tuning sells them.

If you don't have the service manual, buy it. You'll need it for the transmission R & R procedure as well as the clutch bleed procedure. Make sure your bleeding tool gets up to the required pressure. It's higher than what brake bleeding requires.

Is Reverse also difficult when warmed up and engine is running? Is First easier if engine is NOT running? If yes to these questions, it would indicate that the clutch is not fully releasing. Hopefully bleeding the slave cyl will correct. If not, it COULD require a new slave cyl and that requires dropping the trans on a 225.
