Default DIY Angel eyes... a question for electronics gurus here :)

For each ring, I had two LEDs (3.6V, 20mA) connected in parallel and then a 200 Ohm resistor(1/2W) connected to the positive leads of them to convert the 12V and serve as a current source. Is there any problem that you can foresee?

Also, would connecting them (parallel) to the front parking lights work?

Thanks a lot for the help!!

Here are the angel eyes-not completed yet.

Default Very nice Ken - Very nicely done so far!

Hopefully someone will chime in here, like the master himself!

Default Start by assuming that you have 14 v, not 12 (unless you want LOW life expectancy). Why did you go

in parallel? If you go in series, you will drop 7.2 volts across the LEDs. That means you need to "soak up" 6.8 volts with a resistor at 20 mA, so you want a 340 Ohm (or slightly higher) resistor. It needs to be rated for at least 0.14 watts.

Questions with that food for thought?

Default Good point. I did not take into account that it actually reads 14V when the alternator...

is running so I should have taken 14V. The reasoning behind choosing parallel is that since the current is shared by the two LEDs(or whatever number of the LEDs in parallel), they will only feel half of (or 1/n) any fluctuation in current due to the battery voltage and temp. changes.

But thanks for the correction! Now I need to add another 50ohms of resistance to each ring.
