Default DIY transmission fluid replacement

Anyone want to post a DIY for how to replace the tranny fluid. It's prob a dumb questions and easy to do, but I can't find anything online and I think I know how, but not 100% positive.

I want to replace the fluid and put Auto-Rx fluid in because everytime I start my car there is a squeling noise which from what I know and my mechanic has told me, its my release bearing going bad so I'm hopen a nice flush and extra addiditive, the noise will lessen to give me more time to save up for a clutch. ECS has some good ones for around 315, but cost about 400 in labor to get it put in.
So please post a tranny flush DIY for me!!

I assume you have a TT with a manual transmission, if you have a DSG with (2) clutches you are SOL, and if you have the rare FWD auto I have no clue except for the fact there is no clutch.

It is a dumb question, mainly because you don't understand where the clutch is located on any manual car.

The release bearing is not inside the transmission, it's inside the bell housing. It's been that way since I were a lad, and I'm ancient.

There is no flow of lubrication provided to the bearing.

It's a sealed for life bearing and if it's dying there is nothing you can do about it other than replace it.

If it's a Quattro:

The pipe going inside the bell housing is hydraulic pressure from the clutch master cylinder to the integrated slave / release bearing.

It looks like this

If it's FWD:

The slave / release is not one piece, so you only replace the bearing.

******************************

You must replace that plus the clutch, pressure plate and possibly the dual mass flywheel.

There is no magic fluid that will fix your problem.

***********************************

Budget $1000 to DIY and $2-3K to have an independent shop do it. The dual mass flywheel is a $$$ piece.

I have the rare fwd version and it is a 5 speed forgot to mention that. Thanks for clarification on the release bearing. And yes i already know that if replace the bearing I have to replace the whole clutch. I've been through that once before with a pervious car. I'm not looking for a simple fix just thought that new fluid will help it last a little bit longer because I dont have 700 or so for parts and labor. I did not know that about the tranny fluid tho again thanks for the clarification. So I take it there isnt a DIY floating around for the FWD version then? I would like to replace the fluid since the car has over 100k and no idea if its been changed bc I havent since buying it last year.

And I know where the clutch is located bro. I was just wasnt sure if fluid gets to the clutch or not.

Note* I have already priced it and for the clutch kit and flywheel from ecstuning is 320 or so and about 400 in labor...

Transmission fluid is for automatics.

Strictly speaking you need transmission oil not fluid.

It's 8-12 hours work, make sure you get that labor estimate in writing.
