Do codes stay even when the ECU is reset via unplugging battery
reason i ask is i went into light limp mode a few days ago,(no CEL), for the first time since i bought the car . it did not clear by restarting the car, so i unplugged the Battery. this fixed the problem (so i guess is not a leak) but a couple days later it went into limp mode again. same thing, a simple restart did not work so i unplugged Battery again. car back to normal.
iam guessing MAF is to blame. but i dont have a Vagcom because i dont have a laptop. so i was going to go to autozone to get the code read if they are still there before i spend the money on a MAF. |
Where do you live? And are you chipped?
|
depends on the code.
|
Miami, and yes iam chipped, but ive been trouble for 1 year and all of the sudden i hit limp twice

Unplugging the battery...>>
Resets the fuel maps. If your MAF is very bad, they will again go out of spec very fast which sounds like what is happening. Get the codes read!

Does anyone know if Advanced Auto Parts also does Free Code Diagnostics
|
Prolly. Autozone does. Will clear, too.

For those of us without a VAG/Com
the Autel reader can pay for itself the first time you use it. It's helped me with both my TT and my wife's A4.

Yup! That's a handy tool to keep in the car..>>
