Or does Audi just always make ya buy one whether you need it or not?

Default If you've got the captured washer, no. If your washer is separate, I would change it....>

My wife's Passat has the captured washer/drain plug combo. I've never changed it and she's got 60k miles on it. I'll change it when it starts to leak.

On my previous New Beetle, I had the traditional separate washer and drain plug--changed the washer every time.
