Default DON'T believe the "Top Tier" HYPE

Did a little investigation after reading the Top Tier Gasoline post earlier today.

This site is registered to "National Products Group" with an UNLISTED phone number and a PO BOX in Tulsa, OK.

Guess who else has HQ in Tulsa, OK?

That's right, the 1st gas station on the list. Quiktrip Corporation.

This is nothing other than an EXTREMELY clever marketing effort on the part of Quiktrip Corporation. They are the low price leader of all the stations listed but are are positioning themselves on equal ground for quality with the other higher-cost providers, and have shamelessly placed their name at the top of the list to boot.

Maybe the auto manufacturers signed up to vouch for this "top tier" crap. But in my mind it's meaningless hype.

Default I smelled a Rat too. Zero actual useful information on their web site.

Their web site had zero info on requirements, testing procedures, anything.

Default misinformed or compensated....

no matter what the domain is registered to Quiktrip, which calls the whole thing into question.

Default Maybe he got his info from an even bigger rat................

He interviewed and got his info from Andrew Buczynsky, listed as GM's fuel guru. Maybe he owns stock in Quicktrip, actually I never heard of them, not here in the east anyway.

Default You are correct sir! Missed that page.

Even that page still smells of marketing more than science even though they make it sound so scientific.

Doesn't matter to me, the only 93 octane I can get is Holiday 93. Never was a big holiday Station fan before but it lets me run the 93 octane REVO program so I love em now.

This may be a good time to email Car & Driver to see what they say.
